I figured out that if I delete this line, the image DOES appear after I sent a reply. Now my question/problem was (and still is) : My card in my signature does appear in a newly created message as well as in the sent folder as it should in the reply window my card also appears in the signature BUT as soon as the reply is sent, if I check my sent folder, I see a red rectangle but no image, no card, so in other words the recipient can't see the image either, right? So I tried another reply and then highlighted my entire signature, clicked the menu "insert - html" and then I noticed the entry moz-do-not-send="true". But all this isn't necessary for me because all I do is send plain text emails with at the bottom my signature which contains my address and my tiny little card, the only image. OK, if you sent lots of mails a day and all of them include a bunch of html codes and images, then I agree that your solution is a very nice one since then you don't send the images anymore, but you send links to where the images can be found on a site, reducing your email size AND keeping your upload bandwidth in reasonable limits. Thanks for your input so far egidio and Freee!! However, placing my card on a website with a link to it seems like a huge detour for a small problem to me.
I am starting to wonder how you managed to pull that trick. Is there a solution besides manually editing the html of your sign for each reply?Īll the reverse from your problem. Leave attach this image to message checked. Choose the file from your computer, and be certain to type an alt text. To insert your image, click insert > image. Here we are going to create the signature exactly how we want it to appear. Why does TB do this? I can understand this if you're replying to someone who already has your card, because then it would be a waste of space to resend your card each time you reply but what if you're replying to someone who doesn't know you and you want your card to appear. The next step is to create a new message by clicking the write button. Unless of course I delete the above string manually. Hence, the image does not appear when I send the reply. However when I reply, the following string is added within the tag:
#Thunderbird insert signature manually code
The above is the html code of the signature when I compose a new message. OR IN HTML (hope this works after I post) Only in new messages the image is visible.
In the reply window I can see my personal card but after I sent it, the image doesn't appear anymore.
#Thunderbird insert signature manually how to
I read the mozilla article about how to insert signatures in TB but I noticed some strange behaviour about an image that is included in my signature (my personal card).
